Pharma Industry Awards 2019
Tandem Project Management Ltd. was delighted to sponsor the Communications Award at the recent Pharma Industry Awards. Tim Mulhall, Managing Director, Tandem Project Management presented the Communications Award to the MSD Ireland team for their “ The Right Click?” report. The Communications award recognises the best communications campaign undertaken in Ireland’s pharma industry over the past 12 months. This can be either an internal or external campaign, and can include anything from advertising and PR campaigns, TV and Radio, to Digital and other techniques.
2019 Events
As a company, Tandem’s representatives have been very busy on the event scene during 2019. In some instances, this has afforded us opportunities to contribute to thought leadership in our industry, events have provided continuous professional development opportunities, networking and hiring opportunities and opportunities to expand our current and new business prospects in Ireland, the UK and Europe.
Some highlight events have included the iWish event in Cork, the ISPE Ireland Affiliate Annual Conference and their Disruptive Technology Conference. The Lean Construction Ireland National Conference was future facing and informative, as was the BIM: The Digital Journey Continues event. The Pharma Industry Awards in October were a great way to celebrate achievements in the Pharma industry, which Tandem were very proud to sponsor.
Other highlights included the NISO Annual Health & Safety conference, The Mental Health and Wellbeing Summit, PDA Ireland’s Visual Inspection Seminar, The SCSI’s Planning Insights event and The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association Inaugural discussion in Cork.
In Europe, Tandem participated in the ISPE Europe Biotech Conference, the Dutch Life Sciences Conference and various trade missions.
Tandem have thoroughly enjoyed getting involved in STEM and STEPS initiatives this year, encouraging younger generations to consider a career in engineering. During the year we have also met many college undergraduates and graduates at careers events that have impressed us with their knowledge, capabilities and drive.
A notable achievement in our events calendar was our participation in the Construction Industry Federation’s Safety Week. Tandem ran a week-long programme of events including guest speakers, demonstrations, videos, Q&As, group discussions to health and safety quizzes and a prize giving. Key topics covered included; Mental Health and Wellbeing in Construction, Working Safely with Electricity, Working Safely at Height, Vehicle Risk & Safety in Lifting Operations and Working Safely with Hazardous Substances.
As part of our events program, Tandem have enjoyed some fundraising activities this year, such as our Run in the Dark and Cups Against Breast Cancer.
We look forward to an eventful calendar for 2020.
CIF Safety Week 2019
This year’s CIF Construction Safety Week ran from 21st-25th October and Tandem Project Management was proud to participate.
Tandem ran a host of events over the course of the week ranging from guest speakers, demonstrations, videos, Q&As, group discussions to health and safety quizzes and a prize giving.
Key topics covered included; Mental Health and Wellbeing in Construction, Working Safely with Electricity, Working Safely at Height, Vehicle Risk & Safety in Lifting Operations and Working Safely with Hazardous Substances. Tandem employees, contractors and even clients also got involved and added their CSW Health & Safety Pledges to the Tandem safety pledge board.
The week started with a presentation on Mental Health and Wellbeing in Construction, which included some staggering statistics on suicide in the Irish Construction Industry and tips on what we can do to protect our mental heath and how to find support.
Discussions continued all week with Adrian Jones, Tandem EHS officer, leading the dialogue, and guest presenter, Anthony Flood from Maor Scaffolding, who had expert advice for working on or around scaffolding and elevated work platforms.
The week was a great success and allowed us all to stop, think, and put safety first, something Tandem pledges to always do.
EHS & Wellness Initiative Nutrition Event
As part of the Tandem Project Management EHS & Wellness Initiative Mary Carmody of Mary Carmody Nutrition came to Tandem head office to give a nutrition talk and demo. Tandem personnel were treated to an interactive presentation covering the importance of nutrition in our overall health and wellbeing. There were sample smoothies, snacks and plenty of practical, easy tips on how to make nutritious, healthy food and snacks that work well in our busy modern lives. Mary also had her Tanita scales (as seen on Operation Transformation) and offered individual confidential consultations to all Tandem personnel.
Tandem strives to promote the importance of health & wellbeing both at work and in the daily lives of its personnel. Thank to you to Mary and Tandem personnel for participating in the latest EHS & Wellness event.
Tandem Project Management Puts Safety First!
Tandem Project Management puts safety first on all design and construction projects. On Friday 31st May 2019 Tandem ran a Safety Morning for all contractors working on a construction project at the Alexion biologics manufacturing facility, in Athlone, Co. Roscommon.
The event included co-ordinated cross-trade health & safety walk downs, guest Health & Safety key note speaker James Gorry, a Tandem Project Management Safety Prize giving, and interactive presentations from the Client, the Tandem Project Management Construction Management Team, EHS and the Tandem established project Safety Action Team (SAT; a cross functional safety team empowered to deal with all safety issues and safety queries on site regardless of which contractors are involved) covering a wide range of topics.
The event marked over 50,000 hours without a Lost Time Injury on the project. Contractors were commended on their compliance, engagement with and participation in Tandem Project Management Safety Initiatives. Over 1000 Safety Observation Reports have been submitted by contractors since the beginning of the project, testament to the emphasis placed by Tandem on safety and continual improvement. Tandem Project Management would like to thank all participants in contributing to such a worthwhile and successful event.
Engineers Week – UCC Engineering Summit
Tandem Project Management was delighted to sponsor and participate in the University College Cork Engineering Society Engineering Summit.
The Engineering Summit is an annual event run by the society that features and number of guest speakers discussing all things engineering. The speakers on the night were Professor Patrick O’Shea, UCC President, Professor Liam Marnane, Head of School of Engineering at UCC, Ronan Murphy, Smart Networks Specialist at EBS, Dermot O’Sullivan, UCC Lecturer and Tim Mulhall, Managing Director of Tandem Project Management. They discussed their careers to date and also gave some advice to undergraduate and graduate Engineers.
The Engineering Summit coincided with Engineers Week which brings the fascinating world of engineering to life in communities nationwide, inspiring children and young adults to engineer the Ireland of tomorrow.
The UCC Engineering Society is an academic and social society for engineering students in UCC. Throughout the year they run a number of events from career focused talks to social events and nights out. They also visit local secondary schools to run workshops and talk about careers in engineering. This year, with over 600 registered members they have already run several successful events including a Mental Health Conference, a career networking event and their Annual Society Ball. The Engineering Society’s Chairperson Eimear Duggan was a recent participant in Tandem’s Undergraduate Programme.
University College Cork Engineering Society Sponsorship
Tandem Project Management is delighted to sponsor the University College Cork Engineering Society.
The UCC Engineering Society is an academic and social society for engineering students in UCC. Throughout the year they run a number of events from career focused talks to social events and nights out. They also visit local secondary schools to run workshops and talk about careers in engineering.
This year, with over 600 registered members they have already run several successful events including a Mental Health Conference, a career networking event and their Annual Society Ball. They have a number of events planned for the coming year including an action packed Engineering Week and a number of interesting guest speakers. The Engineering Society’s Chairperson Eimear Duggan was a recent participant in Tandem’s Undergraduate Programme.
UCD Habitat for Humanity Event
Tandem recently sponsored the UCD Engineers without Borders ‘Who wants to be a Thousandaire’ event on Monday 10th April. The event was organised by UCD students to fund an upcoming trip to Zambia with Habitat for Humanity.
The students will aim to construct 2 complete houses in 2 weeks for an impoverished community in Ndola, Zambia. We wish the students all the very best with their project.
