Summary:
A Senior Construction Safety Specialist is required for a biopharmaceutical company in West Cork. The incumbent will lead the implementation of the construction safety strategy across the project lifecycle on site.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of the construction safety strategy across the project lifecycle, in particular the Behavior Bases Safety program Safe by Choice.
  • Review of the Construction and Commissioning & Quality HSE-plans.
  • Review of project specific work permits and Safe Plan of Action (SPA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and or Task Risk Assessments (TRA).
  • Support/advise the project manager during all phases of the project in relation to the project safety performance (leading and lagging indicators).
  • Coach/support the EPCM safety professional with the site practices and procedures.
  • Coach/support the contractors with the site practices and procedures.
  • Roll out / implement of the safety incentive plan.
  • Participate in the EHSE checklist review.
  • Participate in the constructability reviews.
  • Track safety statistics and initiate improvement plan if needed.
  • Monitor and Evaluate the EPCM Safety Performance against Project Plan and identify improvements as required.
  • Establish relationship with client and local team and get familiar with the local (safety) procedures.
  • Lead and/or support incident investigations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field of education.
  • At least five years of experience in a comparable environment (pharmaceutical, oil and gas and or food industry).
  • Proven construction safety management excellence, demonstrated over multiple assignments.
  • Knowledge of Pharmaceutical product development and manufacturing facilities and plant operations are highly desirable.
  • Subject Matter Expert in respect to safety.
  • Familiar with MS Office.
