Building Services Engineer – Senior / Lead

Summary:
We have a new opportunity for a Senior / Lead Building Services Engineer to join our team to work on some exciting new projects. The incumbent will be required to lead the preparation of the design packages for tender and construction, including detailed calculations, data sheets, equipment schedules, specifications, scopes of work and tender enquiries.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of black utilities and HVAC systems, including LPHW, Chilled Water, Steam and Condensate, Ductwork, Compressed Air, Process Gases, Water Services and Above-ground Drainage systems.
  • Prepare design packages for issue for tender and construction, including detailed calculations, data sheets, equipment schedules, specifications, scopes of work and tender enquiries.
  • Walk down tender enquiries with contractors, issue clarifications and chair bid clarification meetings.
  • Answer contractor and vendor technical queries.
  • Carry out technical and commercial bid analysis of contractor and equipment bids.
  • Review vendor and contractor submittal approvals during construction.
  • Carry out concept and front end studies and cost estimates.
  • Technical surveys, system walk downs and report writing.
  • Liaise with client to maintain and develop relationships.
  • Execute BIM projects in accordance with ISO 19650 where required.
  • Design with consideration of sustainable and cost of effective solutions to achieved client brief.
  • Manage projects and cross discipline co-ordination between Tandem, sub consultants, vendors and contractors, for the production of detailed design documents and drawings to be issued as part of tender and construction packages.
  • Manage team project hours against project execution plans.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree qualified in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering or similar, relevant discipline
  • Minimum 8 years’ relevant design experience in the Life Science sector.
  • Cleanroom design experience desirable.
  • Chartered Engineer desirable.
  • Motivated individual with strong leadership and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
  • Experience in Commissioning, Qualification and Validation desirable.
  • Experience in BREEM and LEED desirable.
